The most important issue in Coldstream.

The most important issue in Coldstream (and probably all other jurisdictions in the area) is the establishment of a democratic, open and transparent government. Had we have such government in the past few years most of our problems would not have happened.

The followings are the consequences of successive undemocratic governments:

Master Water Plan with false promises and false pretenses;
overcharging customers for years for the quality of service, accumulating massive reserves.
New Municipal hall against the wishes of the people (it is already too small);
some of the tax increases are attributable to the short term borrowing.
Sewer extension at existing customers’ expense;
again overcharging customers for the benefit of a developer.

Ignoring taxpayers’ wishes regarding the OCP;
result: major fight over proposed sports complex.
Ignoring taxpayers regarding neighbourhood peace and quiet;
example: fight about the Kalavista Boat Launch (and the sports complex).
Creating a major upheaval in the ranks of the volunteer fire department;
“letting go” the fire chief and muzzling the volunteers.
Excessive use of In-Camera session excluding the public from deliberations;

We must ensure that the new Council will be composed of candidates who are passionate about establishing a democratic, transparent and taxpayer-friendly government for Coldstream.

I am one of those candidates. I have demonstrated my dedication to Coldstream by following Council's actions and alerting taxpayers of actions contrary to their interest.

My pledge is that my vote will always be in support of taxpayers' best interest.

I will elaborate on each of the above mentioned issues in following articles.
